The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

AT&T’s latest Android smartphone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and is priced at $150 and with a 4-inch 854 x 480 pixel touchscreen display. The built quality of the Xperia X10 is solid, but despite a nice hardware build, its software was a bit of a letdown. It also features two white LED notification lights next to the phone’s hardware buttons just below the display.

According to Bert Nordberg, President, Sony Ericsson said that the company will continue to grow in the Smartphone section and register better profits in the coming fiscal year. He acknowledged the role of new Smartphone; Xperia™ X10 and Vivaz in giving a fillip to the sales of the company. Xperia™ X10 mini and Xperia™ X10 mini pro along with the above mentioned models have been received well by the public and operators. The total number of units shipped was 11 million with a rise of 5 %. The Average selling price has jumped by 19% and 31 % year on year due to better quality of the product and a positive currency scenario.

The newly launched Android-based Smartphone, such as the Xperia X10 by Sony Ericsson has helped the company post a second profit showing. Sales of the smartphones have helped the house immensely. The company which is a joint venture between Japanese Sony and Sweden’s Ericsson has registered a profit of $15.5 million which is better than the results last year when it registered a loss of $276 million. Sales also have registered a growth of 4.3 percent. Sony Ericsson had been on a downside with losses and an eroding market share. The company reversed this trend with some austerity measures and changing focus into the Smartphone’s segment built on a Google Android Software.
